Story

trying to get outside my normal chord usage....didn't use any minor chords...then chorus part riffs back and forth between an F and an A...FnA like F***ing A or...like my friends Fae and Adam as the tune has both a folky feel and some rocker to it...like them.

Story

My father served in submarines in the early part of his career in the Navy. A few years after leaving the USS Scorpion, it went down in the Atlantic taking the lives of all onboard in 1968.

Lyrics

Verse

Cold war warrior,

answered when duty called

And when you couldn't fly,

you found another way

Chorus

Run silent, run deep

There are secrets you've got to keep

They won't know that you're on their tail

A nation praying that you won't fail

Verse

Those days are past and gone,

walls been torn down

Those A-bombs didn't drop,

we're still around

Chorus

Run silent, run deep

There are secrets you've got to keep

In the darkness below the waves

Ninety-nine lay in deep sea graves

Verse

Young mother all alone,

three kids in tow

She can't know why you left,

or where you'll go

Bridge

Dark black car, don't stop here

Dark black car, don't stop here

Don't want no chaplain, knocking on our door

Don't want no chaplain, knocking on our door

We just want to see our father again

We just want to see our father again, again

Chorus

Run silent, run deep

There were secrets we had to keep

Kept them bottled up deep inside

It left us wondering if you would die

Left us wondering if you would die

Children watching watching their mother cry

When she couldn't keep it all inside

But you made it home alive

Glad you, you survived

We're still alive

Lyrics

Ain't got no money

Got no fame

Got no lover

calling my name

Unwanted blues

Unwanted blues

Friends don't have any free time for me,

Just leaves me lonely, in misery

Unwanted blues

Unwanted blues

I wrote you letters

And called each day

You gave me silence

And walked away

Unwanted blues

Unwanted blues

Unwanted blues won't let me be,

I try to hide but they find me

Unwanted blues

Unwanted blues
